Temperature plotted against how far south each station sits. The fitted line shows the Territory's temperature gradient, and how it tilts between day and night.

?How to read it: each dot is a station. Left = far north (tropical), right = far south (desert). Higher = hotter. Watch the slope tilt as you scrub time.

Derived indicator, not published by BOM

Fire-Weather Watch: a score BOM doesn't publish

Heat, dryness and wind combined into one 0 to 100 score per station. It's a derived measure that turns the stored history into something you can act on.

?How to read it: a higher score means hotter, drier, windier, meaning worse bushfire conditions. Each station is ranked by its worst hour in the data window.

What this tells you

Predicted vs observed · experimental

Fire Weather Validation

Does the Fire-Weather score line up with where satellites actually detected heat? Each detection is matched to its nearest weather station (within 50 km) and compared with that station's peak score over the same 24 hours. An indicative consistency check — not a scientific accuracy measure.

Wind regimes, coast vs interior

Dry-Season Wind: coast versus interior

A wind rose for any two stations. Coastal sites show a sea-breeze pattern that inland sites don't, which is why each station carries a coastal flag.

?How to read it in plain terms: picture a compass viewed from above. Each petal points to a direction the wind blows from. The longer the petal, the more often the wind comes from that way. A few long petals means steady wind from one direction; many short petals means the wind keeps changing. Pick any two stations below to compare.
